She's a primal entity that has existed since the beginning. She's the mother of all Shadows...so I guess that means that she's the creator of humans as well, huh...

Despite all that's happening, she's still not hostile at all. She doesn't seek to end my world out of hatred or malice. She only wants to please her children. And...right now, it almost seems like a lot of people are begging for death. And that feeds something that is malicious. It's the very manifestation of hatred and pain...all the negative emotions that humans experience in a mass that constantly tears at Nyx.
