I really like this take on the first name/last name premise, especially the conclusion that he's not exactly one or the other, but rather both.
Also, the idea that Kyle helped convince him to embrace his inner computer-tech-geek in college is something I haven't seen very often before, but something I really, really enjoyed.
This feels very re-readable, like I could pick up something new from it with each separate pass. I always appreciate that in a story. :)
This story started as a drabble basically about Fish liking Kyle calling him Oliver, and it just expanded from there when I rewatched a lot of old episodes and needed to tie it into canon. The Oliver computer-geek thing was one of those sidelines. Glad you enjoyed it!
Funnily enough I was halfway through thinking this story through in my head when I found an episode where Fish tells Kyle not to call him Oliver. I couldn't *not* write it once I'd found that!
I really like that you don't see his two names, Oliver and Fish together as one whole name till the end. Oliver is finally able to see both parts of himself as one whole person. Thank you for sharing!
Lovely. It always brings a tear to my eyes whenever I read the part where where Fish tells Kyle "you disgust me". Thanks for keeping the boys alive in fan fic.
