A thin droplet of sweat trickled down Elan's forehead, stinging his eye. Ignoring it calmly, he continued to meditate. Sitting in snug-fitting jeans and a t-shirt that he had gotten on the bargain rack, Elan attempted to embrace the source. He could not feel it as he once did, but there was something, barely perceptible as if viewed through the thickest of smoke. Shaking his head in disgust, he rose to his feet.

Nothing.

He had been trying for several hours but had gotten nowhere. Wiping his brow, he shook his head. This was pointless. He would try again soon, but for now there was little use. He would beat this! He had to. His efforts with Shelley had not been as fruitful as might be hoped, but if he could shatter the shield on his own then...

Well, none of that would matter, would it?

A grin blossomed on his face. He wondered idly if he would destroy the town when his powers returned. He hated this place, sure, but it might be in poor taste to expunge it from the face of the planet. Though, if Shelley were never to return to this place, then what would it matter if he turned the whole town into a sea of glass? He hardly had to decide now.

A sullen glance down at the pile of books. He had read everything of even the remotest interest in the house, including some magazines targeted towards women that raised superficiality to a kind of perverse art form. He had enough of this.

He would simply have to find the library.
