I do so love reading your thoughts about DW - you are always interesting and insightful. As well as analytical - there are so few people who actually write analyses of the show. I really do hope you write that proper post someday, because I would love to hear your thoughts about the episode.
I had no idea that the ship was named the Hesperus. <3
I do love it when they pay that much attention to detail that they worry about whether or not the turkey should be cooked. And it makes things absurd when they ignore important details. I was just talking to my husband the other day about those Zygon episodes from series 9. At one point, Clara stays in London while the Doctor heads to Turkmenistan and Kate goes to New Mexico, and when they show what happens in all three places, which happen simultaneously, it's daytime in all three places...
Oh, thank you for your kind words. I love reading other fans' analyses, and if I can interest someone with mine, great. I always hope for a discussion when I write my meta posts.
The main reason why I haven't written the post about The End of Time yet is its length and the fact that it ends five years of storytelling - there's so many things to write about and easy to lose the big picture when you focus on a particular thing. But I'll get there, hopefully :)
At one point, Clara stays in London while the Doctor heads to Turkmenistan and Kate goes to New Mexico, and when they show what happens in all three places, which happen simultaneously, it's daytime in all three places... Good one! I think it's New Mexico scenes that are set in the wrong time. It's night when Kate and the Doctor leave London, so Kate should have arrived at night, too - few hours flight minus few hours of time difference. For the Doctor, it's the next day morning, so it's okay. Then scenes in London are inside or underground and it takes some time before Clara/
( ... )
Well, let me state right here that I will always be eager to join in on a discussion about anything DW you might want to post. I enjoy talking on the meta level about the show, but the only person I have to talk with like that is my husband, and it's difficult to inject anything new into the conversation when it's just the two of us. Not to mention that so many of our discussions devolve into what we dislike about the most recent seasons, rather than what we like about the previous 51 years. :)
I'm working on my discussion of the weaknesses of "The Day of the Doctor", so hopefully someday soon we can talk about that.
