Some speculation about Broadchurch season 3

Jun 18, 2016 17:39

In a new interview, David Tennant talks mostly about Jessica Jones (spoilers for anyone who hasn't seen it!) but he told us few things about season 3 of Broadchurch. I'm putting it and my thoughts behind the LJ cut, for anyone who doesn't want to know anything before season three airs.

Hardy certainly hated Broadchurch in season 1 ("I hate the neverending sky..."), but I do think that his hesitation when getting into the taxi at the end of season 2 was meant to show that he was already seeing the town in a new light, now that all of the pressure that had nearly killed him was gone.

I was also surprised that the third season was a number of years after the second season, but I can see a storyline in which Hardy had chosen to leave and came back to join Miller to investigate this new case, and over the course of the series, he comes to realize that he actually likes the town (and they like him) and chooses to stay in the end.

I love that Hardy still doesn't get to eat that ice cream! (Didn't DT say it was awful filming that scene in season 1, because it called for him to walk with the superintendent and not eat the ice cream, and he really wanted to?)

I think it's a possible storyline, and I'd like it. I'm just wondering what he's been up to for those few years. I'd hate to learn he's been lonely and unhappy. But maybe he wasn't, maybe he's been living close to Daisy, being good at his job and enjoying being able to run without a heart attack.

I wonder how other people in Broadchurch will react when he comes back. They should trust him more now than in season one.

He did! Tough work, acting, isn't it? ;)

There could be a possibility for "flashbacks" but most lightly the focus will be on what brings Alec back to Broadchurch. Maybe he might actually get to eat ice-cream or something since he is no longer grumpy and ill?

Imagine him buying ice cream for Ellie and himself.
"Thanks, sir. But... you don't eat."
"I do now. Come on, Miller."
I hope he'll still be a bit snarky, just not miserable.

Is Ellie still going to be called Miller?

It would freaked Ellie out more if Alec lost all his snarkiness.

I don't know, she didn't want to be called Ellie, not by Hardy. I hope she stays Miller because I love the way Alec says it ;)
