I’m intrigued from a historical context that he refers to showing respect to noblemen and Lords.

I didn't realise he'd accept that the concept of nobility was legitimate enough to consider I guess? but that could be me retroactively applying modern opinions onto his time era.

These are rules he transcribed as part of his schooling. He did not create them.

"First collected by French priests in 1595, the Rules of Civility described the correct behavior and manners of a proper gentleman in the 1700s"

Very first President. Still diplomat to other countries who have Lords.

The rules mention Lords, Reverends and Judges in the same breath so not really a huge deferment?

He grew up with the rules and refered to them as how a Gentleman behaves. I think he passed them on to his subordinates? Which would be good. Less mouths full of food in the officer's mess. 🤣
