Drip, drip, drip. Dropping below freezing now. Fortunately the warm up was only a couple of degrees above freezing, so we didn't get the catastrophic meltdown that flooded the boys' barn last year. The main consequence was that the snow around the "ice tracks" our wheelbarrow follows got spongy, making navigation of a full wheelbarrow difficult. It ( Read more... )

It did snow, just not as much as they said it would. We got somewhere between four and five inches of new powder here at the farm. At work, there was somewhat less, maybe three inches. Instead of continuing with heavy snow all day and into the night, things had pretty much dropped back to light flurries by noon time. Sorta disappointing, really. No ( Read more... )

Yes, I know, a few of you survive worse on a regular basis, but even for one who grew up in Michigan, this is too cold. Especially so this early in the winter. Normally we descend to these depths or below only in January or February. It was 3°F when I got up this morning, and continued to drop until it reached zero. Completed the guild newsletter for this month, including adding up the yardage for one of this year's challenges. I challenged the guild as a whole to spin at least 50 miles of yarn over a twelve month period. All they have to do is report to me each month how many yards ( Read more... )
