I give up being surprised anymore, given your fondness for Evoquus' Companions. :P

It's been several years, but it seems to me that I liked the beginning of that Evoquus story but grew disgusted with it partway in and never finished it.

Yes, I just went and looked at the beginning of it, and that's the one. I didn't get beyond the first two or three chapters before abandoning it.

The only one of Kyell Gold's books that has alienated me that way is Out of Position and for much the same reason. Though I did manage to get through the whole thing, I didn't like and could not ultimately identify with any of the characters or situations. It was an alien thing filled with distasteful imagery. He's doing a sequel but I doubt I'll bother.

This requires a lot of thought *thinking thinking* I'd actually wouldn't mind having dinner with James May from Top Gear, he seems like an educated erudite sort, I'd be interested to know how he got into the biz and his writing and what not.

As an actual "romantic date" Hmmm is tricky

Pfft. You're missing the point, kitty cat. A character, not a real person. ;p

And yes, a romantic date is the intent of the question I'm sure. We're only talking fantasy here, though, so you don't have to be inhibited about it.

I think I'd be too nervous with any of the people I'm thinking of *fiddles with his tail*
