Oh, poor Wade. Poor, poor, pretty, dying Wade. The man needs a hug.

"I know you must love to watch the sharks and the big cats hunt, but do you ever watch anything besides nature programs?"

Victor probably gets off to the really violent nature programs. And he's probably addicted to Cash Cab. Okay, I know they didn't have Cash Cab back in the 1970s, but everybody likes it.

I really enjoyed Wade's little spiel about Victor's fear/disgust towards the penis because it's just so in character. This whole thing is so wonderfully in character. I think this was much, much better than the actual movie. :D

I'm v glad you found it in-character, that's always the nicest thing to hear. As to getting off to violent nature programs, ITA! It occurred to me that the other thing he might like to watch would be porn, but I'm not sure how much access he'd have to porn. People had to actually go to video stores and rent or buy in the 70's, didn't they? Plus I have a hard time imagining him watching Behind the Green Door, although I'm sure he would have.

As to getting off to violent nature programs, ITA!

Just this morning, I remembered a time when I went to the local nature center with my family, when I was 13 or 14, and watched a documentary about animal sex they just happened to be showing in their theater. The only part I really remember clearly is watching this one male lion kill the alpha male and his cubs, and then essentially rape the dead alpha's mate to secure his place as the new alpha male. Victor would've loved that, creepy as it may be to the rest of us.

I'm not sure how much access he'd have to porn. People had to actually go to video stores and rent or buy in the 70's, didn't they?

I think VHS and BETAMax videos started in the 1980s, so people would've had to go to special theaters to watch porn, and I don't think Stryker would have let Victor do that.

One of the most heartbreaking things about reading the comics is that Wade never seems to get a softer hug. Not really.

I'm largely clueless about the history of technology prior to 1985. I think Stryker might let him go watch porn though. He does seem to let them hook up on their nights off, like with Fred and his gymnast, and even if only when it's pursuant to his own goals, he does let Victor hunt mutants and kill people. I can't imagine visiting a porn theater would be off the list of unspecified privileges that come with being on the team.
