For some reason this piece made me think of Carl Larsson and his paintings of domestic scenes. I love these snatches of home life. Thank you for sharing. and sorry for not being better at commenting; I have read all your drabbles of this last few days and really enjoyed them.
Oh, those pictures are really interesting, thank you so much for linking to them. (Midwinterblot - wow.)
And I hope I didn't come across as cranky or needy or special-snowflakey on my other post: I am touched by every comment that people make, and I'm always genuinely surprised and delighted that people are reading.
I am glad you enjoyed the pictures. I grew up with prints of the domestic scenes on the walls and as cards for various occasions; they are the idealised Swedish family life to me, though definitely not typical of the life of the general population at their time. Now I sometimes cringe to think how little feed-back I provided to the poor souls who were working hard trying to teach me! You should read my

Oh, I sympathise! Particularly when one is teaching a new course. Often you're kind of left scratching your head, thinking, "I wonder if that worked?" Small group teaching is better in that respect, but with lecturing it's sometimes like shouting into a void!

Very good. The end, especially, makes me smile. Poor Estel, caught in the royal tohuwabohu - no wonder his head hurts.
I had to google still room, though. Thank God for the hidden knowledge of the internet!
