I thought i would break with tradition and post.

Am very worried about you all in Sheffield. I have just seen the Wicker on News at 10!

Wombwell High School had to be closed, flooding and drain sludge flowing inside were not good for Health and Safety.

I had sensibly got Kris to take me to work in the Rav, and it took him over an hour to get to pick ( Read more... )

We're ok, tucked up warm at home. We checked in at Megan & Carl's earlier, and they were ok.

We've had Sannah and Phil Hyde over this evening, and kept their spirits up with cups of tea as the other side of the park doesn't seem to have electricity :\

All is fine here. Am following council advice and not traveling which means I can't do any work today (no phone/laptop at home).

I've heard reports of dampness in the valley (Malin bridge shut; the paddling pool only discernible via the railings above the river and the traffic island at the bottom of the road was submerged) but it all looked fine from here.

Traffic home was solid - 45 mins from the London road-waitrose petrol junction to waitrose roundabout. Got back ok though.

Glad you guys are ok - was concerned. Assume you're not near the Ulley dam?

Hope your neighbour turns up ok - he's probably stuck in an emergency shelter being looked after by nice people like tallbint.

We probably had your neighbour in the evacuation centre I was in all last night,- we evacuated much of Rawmarsh via boat as no safe way in or out even with police escort,- ended up working 24 hour solid with no sleep or much food as we had 300 plus people turn up in pjs complete with pets, children and in many cases no medication as the police dragged people out of beds and evacuated them.

May be more of the same tonight as am on standby again so off to get more sleep,- if concerned try their next of kin as we are notifying them as we register people in.

As for him not coming home, people in Rotherham were told not to,- my boss who lives in Swinton ended up wading through up to her norks and barely made it as was desperate to get to her kids, most were falmed out to emergency centres from 4pm yesterday. Police told us no way in, no way out and don't even try it last night!

I am so sory to hear Wretch's post. I wont ring you, so you can rest. Just know I send my love. Lots of looking after yourself now!

As for my neighbour, we found him! He stayed the night at a friends after trying for 5 hours to get home and running out of petrol (almost).

Unfortunately she is on slim fast and had....

....no food in the house.

Our school stayed open today. (It shut early yesterday). A lot of staff didn't make it in. So it has been a bit mad. Bracing myself for tomorrow now.

Glad to hear your neighbour was ok.

I'm mostly fine just a new scar on my poor nose and much aching (having a fit is the equivalent of running a marathon apparently) but I'm really mopy about losing my licence again, am selling the car to my brother so will use the time to save up for the Honda 4x4 I really want.

Hope you didn't get too much destruction, we were told Rawmarsh was cut off from all directions and one of our managers who lives there and had to get her daughter from nursery on the way home ended up abandoning her car and wading under the bridge just past retail world with water up to her neck as there was no safe way around.

Glad to hear you are ok hon. Been seeing a lot of Sheffield and nearby areas on the news lately.
I'm somewhat worried about all this rain as we are supposed to be camping up near Settle in three weeks.
