Since when do you guys need a passport to get over here? Have the laws changed and I missed it? I know there was talk about it, but I hhadn't heard anything else. If that's so, I'm a little mad, because I still don't need a passport to get into Canada, and that's not quite fair to you all if you need one to get into the US.

I think you've always needed one to get through airport customs, I know I did when I went to visit AW & Sis a few years ago... driving through the border (ie. to Niagara Falls) is a different story, but they're getting stricter on that from the American end. Stupid Customs.

Ah. I've never flown into Canada before; I live about twenty minutes from the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit, so if I want to get in, I take my car. I know the last time I tried to cross I had a lot of grief from customs on both sides, but mostly on the US. They used to just wave US citizens back over, but they've really been grilling us.

To clearify, you need photo ID to get across the border. I don't have a licence because I've never bothered to get one seeing as the buses here are good and licences are a pain to get. I also don't have a photo ID healthcard, which is just as well because the red and white ones don't have an expiry date.

Therefore, the fastest ID I can get (two weeks) is a passport. Besides, I heard that next year (2007), you'll need one to get into the states. Man, these rules are getting crazier.
