Today had been a complete wreck from the start. But now the two were relatively safe in his apartment, and he'd sent Canada home a few hours back so he and Alice could have the night alone. He didn't want her meeting anyone else just yet.

"Yeah, this is my apartment." It was small, quiet, and quaint. Perfect for a guy like Jack- he'd found the apartment a day after he'd arrived and found out who lived just next door later that week as well. Interesting little hole in the wall; he supposed.

"Are you alright?" Her eyes still looked pitifully red from all the crying. "I'm sorry I had to be the one to tell you."

He took a deep breath. "But you have to know I only told you because I didn't want you to be kept in the dark.."

At the question she averted her gaze from him and decided to continue looking around, pulling her hand free from his. She walked over to the kitchen and ran her fingers lightly along the counter top. "I'm fine."

She glanced over to the appliances lined neatly in a row, inspecting them with no real interest other that to keep her from looking at Jack and potentially braking down in tears once more.

"I know you did... it's fine. Stop mulling over it already."

He would hate to be the cause of another breakdown. Alice had already went through atleast two mental breakdowns today, maybe he should have never brought her home with him- if he was really the cause of them anyway. He watched her from afar, retreating to his bathroom to take the pain relievers he assumed Integra left him. He popped two, and swallowed. His headache would go away eventually.

"I'm not mulling." He sighed. "Perhaps I just feel guilty that I can't be Oz, Alice." That was part of it. "I'm not your contractor, I'm just a piece of your memory, I'll never mean as much to you if we both can't piece together anything." Jack knows what happened, he just doesn't want to tell Alice the whole story- or why.

"I still care about you." He was huffing. "More than you know."

She watched him mosey off to his bathroom but she didn't follow. She simply leaned back against the counter and listened to him speak from the bathroom, letting her eyes wander up along the cabinets and then the ceiling.

"Can we not.. talk about him?" she started as she began to feel some throbbing of her own in her head "I know you're not the same, I didn't ask you to be. You're two separate people... I wouldn't have it any differently."
