some pre-AAGPBL images of women's baseball teams and players that i have come across lately. jeez, i hope you guys don't get sick of me flooding you with these findings.
Nah, you're not boring me, I'm finding it very interesting.
I also find the existence of women's baseball today very interesting. I probably need to restrain the impulse to sit on my hands when people (even people I like who are on my flist!) doubt women's capability to play baseball at a high level.
(I'm also working on a piece of baseball fiction that takes place in 2040, and there will be women players in it. It makes sense to me, and am afraid that a lot of people won't think that it does for them.)
oh, good! because i am so excited about the whole thing i can't really control myself. so it's nice to know that other people are interested.
i was completely unaware that there was a professional softball league, let alone a women's baseball league until the other day. now i totally want this t-shirt:
whoa! awesome! i really need to remember to find out if any girls are in portland little league this year so i can go watch. the soccer game i went to involved a few girls on the island team, so i think that might be the place to look first.
I happen to live in pretty much the most soccer-oriented city in the Boston area, so all my friends played in the local youth soccer league (I did too, for that matter, but I sucked). And when I went to my brother's little league games (when he played, that is), there was sometimes a girl or two on each team.
I would love to be a little league assistant coach, but the city's local league is really bad. All the coaches are obnoxious, too, as I learned when my brother played.
i have yet to see how portland little league functions, outside of the odd game i accidentally end up watching when i am at the park. word is it is competitive? but i'll be going to games this year to cheer on michelle's son ezra.
i know! i seriously need to make friends with a seamstress who has a lot of time on their hands to make some replica unis. i would seriously wear them in my day to day life.
