Stopped by the pharmacy on the way back from physio. The pharmacist recommended Viralex which seems to be some herbal antiviral, antibiotic and antifungal concoction involving olive leaf extract and some other stuff. I'll see if it's any good. I don't care if it's a placebo effect if it makes me feel any better. If it's no good, then I'm gonna ( Read more... )

I've had something called Rulide for respiritory infections before-- it gave me a lot less side effects than Amoxycillin (Augmentin).

Judging by the colour of my bogeys, which is actually a useful scientific test in this case, I have a staph. aureus infection, which Rulide appears to be slightly less effective against.

It is, indeed, slightly less effective-- unless Augmentin makes you too sick to finish the course :-)

The antibiotics themselves are fine with me, it's the effect of having all the good bacteria nuked that gives me problems. A side order of Canesten is pretty much required with any antibiotic prescription I get.
