The way people are bidding and pledging on help_haiti and elsewhere is really making me proud to be part of this community.

I know I don't talk about my RL on this journal very much, but I'm going to now as an introduction to this post.

Ever since I heard about the earthquake last week, I had been desperately worried and losing hope about a friend of mine from when I worked on a project in Geneva in 2006 as part of an incredible international team of young people. The 26 of us keep in sporadic touch by an email group, but the email traffic increases significantly around important occasions - marriages, babies, graduations etc. Various group members had been trying to get in touch with him, but obviously the phones and internet are not working.

Yesterday I heard he, his wife and their eight week old son are safe and well, but most of their relatives and friends have died. Reading that email, the sheer relief and thankfulness and joy, tempered by sorrow for all the suffering, hit me with real force.

There are a lot of incredible artists and authors who are offering their talents in the auctions, which is amazing - check out jamie2109's List Of Fandomers Helping Haiti for more details. But I know that the bidding is getting pretty high and that money is tight for lots of people at the moment.

So, I am offering to write a Harry/Draco fic for EVERYONE who donates and gives me a prompt. I'll use your pledge as a vague indication of fic length - donate £1 and you'll get something between a drabble and 500 words. Donate £10 and you'll get a couple of thousands words, and so on and so forth. This is not a guarantee, just guidelines. What is guaranteed is that you will get something H/D and it will probably silly and fluffy. You guys know by now what I write.

If you can only spare a buck, then please think about donating it. As a thank you for your donation, I'll write you some h/d loving.

The Disasters Emergency Committee is the organisation co-ordinating the UK aid agencies appeal, so I would appreciate it UK fandomers donate to them.

Other charities.... Oxfam ... Médecins Sans Frontières ... Red Cross

Make your pledge in whatever currency you use. I'll use the XE converter.

In short:

&hearts Pledge as a comment to this post and include a prompt - this could be a scenario, setting, word, action, kink, etc. Let me know if you want PG hand-holding or NC17. Bear in mind that the length of the fic will correspond in a vague sort of way to the size of the donation, so choose your prompt accordingly.

&hearts When you've made your donation, email me confirmation at alovelycupofteaATgmail. Obviously feel free to blank out your personal details if you want to, although I will delete the email as soon as I have noted down your donation, and I promise not to do anything nefarious with the information if you don't.

&hearts Sit back and wait for your fic!
