Oh, they were so good. And they have lovely memories for me. They are my dad's favourite kind of sweet stuff, so on special occasions Mum used to make them for us all. YUMMY. They are so good homemade, cos you can make sure you have a lovely thick layer of chocolate on them. The shop bought ones tend to be a bit stingy on the chocolate...

Of course!

Base

4oz marge or butter
2oz castor sugar
6oz self raising flour

Filling

4oz marge or butter
4oz castor sugar
2tbsp golden syrup
1 small can condensed milk

Topping

6oz cooking chocolate

Preheat oven to GM4 (180o)
Grease and line a baking tin

To make the base:

&hearts cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy
&hearts sieve the flour and fold into the creamed mixture
&hearts press the mixture evenly over the base of the tin
&hearts bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown

To make the filling:

&hearts place all the ingredients in a saucepan and heat gently until dissolved
&hearts boil for 5-10 mins stirring continuously
&hearts spread over cooled base

Topping:

&hearts melt the chocolate
&hearts spread over the cooled filling

Leave to chill in the fridge and then cut up and eat. YUM.
