I love the tidbit with Kahlan not wanting her hands bound. I wish that the show and/or one of the books (I've only read the first, I confess) went into Kahlan's back story, she's such an interesting character

but please fill me in, why can't Merlin go under the castle anymore? did he upset the dragon?

Yeah. This takes place after the finale where Merlin reeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaally pissed off the dragon.
