letter to Melanie

        This is one of my locked posts. Below is what I am sharing with Melanie and John about ideas/progress in the move. I am not used to being thankful to the kindnesses of strangers. No idea if I am doing it right.

================================================

Hi Melanie,

Looks like changes are brewing as I get more info.

If I am able to walk as far as the Treme, I should be able to get a THREE Bedroom apartment for the same cost as an efficiency apt here in the French Quarter.

That would mean no need to rent a storage unit.  And it means ALL my stuff will fit into my new apartment.

I could not haul my 2 carts that far in a single trip.  However if I bought a cart somewhat similar to this one, I should be able to pack everything on a single cart. and go to work in a single trip.

My friend Kelleigh will be guiding me thru the sorting and trash removal process.  She is a meticulous Libra who will be working with me on Wednesdays.

Once I pay rent for October, I am safe here until the end of October.  Beyond that may be possible.  Too soon to know.

My next step is two-fold.  I have to search for apartments and then go look at them.  And I need to generate cash to pay rent and deposit on the new place, while leaving enough $$ to eat and buy supplies.  I know folks who are willing to loan me some cash.  How much is not known at this time.

When the time comes, I shall be very happy to receive the assistance you and John have offered.  Boxing everything up, and moving it all to my new apartment is EXACTLY what I need.

I am hoping I will be able to continue to keep my 2 carts in the courtyard here at my old apartment until I get the cash for the new 4-wheel cart, some new bungee chords, then figure out how to pack it all up.

I feel my legs will eventually appreciate the exercise, but probably will complain a lot for the first month or more.  The added exercise will probably also assist me to control my blood sugar.

What makes all this possible is the help you and John have offered to me.

The task ahead of me wants me to just go to sleep and not do what needs to get done.  But I am no longer terminally depressed and freaking out like I was doing when you and John came up to me back on 9-11.

my interesting life, overcoming my stoicism, on movng trees, end of the world as i know it, big move
