OH. MY. GOSH.   Today's Dilbert is SPOT ON.

I asked my fearless leaders yesterday  - I have 5 business days left for the year - 2 this week and 3 next.  The changes that need moved up to the next level (STG) will take 3 days, if all goes well (if you've been keeping track for the past 2 years, NOTHING about this project goes THAT smoothly), and I' ( Read more... )

Oh, that is SO true. They always run the updates over the weekend, and then when Monday comes and the computers won't come up or smoke appears from the hard drive, that's the day that IT is off! Or they leave a message saying, "Call so-and-so" - and so-and-so had to go to a regional meeting that day.

This is why I was getting support calls from a company I'd left years earlier. I took doing IT seriously.

Do they need the code issues resolved by end of calendar year? Sounds like flirting with disaster!

since its the staging environment, it isn't critical. I personaly don't like leaving something "broken", tho, even if it is "just staging".

Looks like everyone is sick. I'll probably have it soon - between you guys and my band's singer now having it, I imagine my solo gig on the 28th will sound like an asthmatic Emo Phillips with sandpaper lodged down his throat.
