You can friend the community just like you would an individual journal to see it on your friends page. And you can comment and everything else without restriction.

My fic LJ is a community, and I'm the only "member" of the comm-- I have it set so no one can join, because I'm not sure how else to restrict it so I'm the only one who can make posts.
