This is how Sungmin composes, though no one else knows. They just think he's some musical genius, pulling melodies out of his ear, mouth... ass. They seem to like those ass-melodies.
But Sungmin works a bit harder than that.
Every free Friday he has (which isn't that many, actually) he pulls out sheet music from old songs, familiar songs his mother used to sing or obscure music that sold maybe a hundred copies fifty years ago. He takes them apart, line by line, note by note, bar by bar, and rearranges them.
Mixes classical with rock, pop with blues, jazz with Broadway.
"I'm a genius," he lies as he gets a few bars from his favourite nursery rhyme and adds the line from the track that only came out a week ago.
He diligently massacres pre-made music, shattering what's gone on for years, or hours, perfect music that's already been made as he glues them onto sheets of fresh paper.
He hums them, adds in a few accidentals or rubs out a sharp.
He likes this. The jigsaw of music, because all the music that can be created has already been made.
