Poetry

I've had this little writing comm for awhile now, and I still haven't posted anything in it. Today in one of my English classes we were discussing a poem and how it related to poetry we've written ourselves, and I remembered a few of the poems I'd written for a poetry class last year. I thought I'd post two of them here, just in case anyone cared ( Read more... )

... Oh, Fae. I am really glad you linked this. Poetry is not my cup of tea most of the time, but you really have a beautiful way with words. It's strong and vivid without being all flowery, which is just the kind of writing I like. Both poems gripped me easily; I really hope that you write or post more, because I'd love to read them. I really would.

And this:
Read you stories before you knew the words

God, I loved that line. It says so much with so little. I'm seriously amazed.

I have more poems from that same poetry class, but these two were my favorites.

Wow. I reallllly liked these!

The first one gave me real sense of comfort and solace in that way things ought to be with a sister. I loved your imagery, it was great :)

As for the second one, I didn't really understand it until the very end, which is how I like poems to be. You know, a bit confusing until the end when it's like "oh! cool! :D"

That's how I felt here. I really loved the soap references and relating it all to Shakespeare was super cool!

I look forward to reading more poetry by you!
oh, and feel free to check out some of my poetry over at theexistence

These are gooood. What I really like, especially in the soap one, is how you captured little snapshots of moments, and related them to something bigger. WRITE MORE AGAIN~! :D

Good grief girl you are good. niquela January 29 2009, 08:28:46 UTC
I like both of them. Love how you slowly introduce us to the sofa or chair. Love that your stanzas aren't straight. Love the way you touch my heart when you so clearly don't think 95 is enough. Yes, you are good. I also like that you linked. Posting longer poems is a good idea.
