Back "at work" again today, though it seems almost a travesty to call it that, at this point. It's still kind of weird to me that after calling me in for a 3-week contract the Editors on the project decided to put me on hold for the majority of the 2nd week (seemingly while they begged the client for files we should have had well before any ( Read more... )

Most micro-managers are bottlenecks. I think I'm a bottleneck both at work and at play (well, in FFXI anyway). I am sort of the editor in my department (without the actual title), just because no one else wants to do it or is really able to do the job. And in game I'm the only full-time healer in our group, so there are some things we can't really do unless you get really creative. It's not always a matter of choice.

I can never remember to pick up an extra I.D. tag, either...

That's more of a necessity though, it sounds like. This person has multiple editors in various departments which report to them, but insists on signing off on everything. She doesn't seem to trust the editors she has, at all.

Even the best editors make mistakes. Occasionally I'd get materials from outside companies (you know, companies that have proper editors) and I'd still catch the odd error here and there and go, "Gosh, their editors suck!" So a degree of distrust is probably normal. That, and clashes are almost inevitable between editors.
