I am taking a quilting class at a small “cultural center”. The center is run completely by women and for women, and teaches a variety of crafts. The idea is to teach modern women the crafts that they would have learned at home. It is also a good way for women to connect.

If I was taking the class on my own I would never have come back the second day. I spend my entire week hating my fingertips, but then forget it once I am actually in the class.

I have given up reading and computer time, though, and I miss them dearly!

A true sewing circle! However, I heard it often referred to a "stitch and bitch"!

BTW Nice bag! All hand sewn - that would take a while ... it reminds me of the time I went to an Amish shop looking for quilting notions. The shop was attached to the family household. I was asking about certain stitches and techniques and the woman took me into her house to the quilting rack to show me how it's done. If there is anything that can unite women folk - I believe it's projects like this.

Oh yeah - did you learn to crochet yet?

You know that the crochet thing is never going to happen! Of course I would have said the same thing about quilting....
