title: FIRE -- little boxes (2/30)
author:
sooverrated_x rating: PG - 13
pairing: general, though a whole lot of rian/jack cause it rarely happens
warnings: fluff, hilarity and sadness all rolled into one.
summary: It couldn't have been Zack because Zack was the only true male out of the four of them and it couldn't be Rian because he didn't have hair to straighten or dry, so it had to be Jack or Alex.
disclaimer: I tell lies.
author notes: I started this about a year ago and only got one done. So here's a second, while I have lots of muse. Also, this is pretending that they all live together :P
here is the table <3
FIRE
Zack was pacing pack and forth with a cell phone held to his ear, talking to various people trying to find a semi permanent residence for them because "there's water and smoke damage, it's repairable, but you can't live here for the time being." Alex was pacing back and forth with his hands in his hair cursing under his breath. Jack was just sitting wide eyed, for once in his life, no smart comment or humorous and inappropriate things to say to lighten the moment. And Rian just had his arm slung over Jack's shoulder because it was weird seeing him like this.
"It was an electrical appliance, from the bathroom," so it couldn't have been Zack because Zack was the only true male out of the four of them and it couldn't be Rian because he didn't have hair to straighten or dry, so it had to be Jack or Alex. This only made Jack curl up tighter into himself and Rian tighten his grip.
"Fuck, Jack. Why the fuck can't you unplug your shit?" Alex rarely got mad and for a second it pulled Jack out of his daze. The fire was his fault.
"I ...."
And Alex kept shouting because he didn't know what else to do.
"Alex! Will you shut the hell up?"
All three of them looked over to Zack who was covering the speaker of the phone with his hand, because Zack never yelled. Ever.
Alex stopped pacing and sat down on the curb next to Jack while Zack turned back to the phone and the firemen rolled up their hoses.
Jack buried his nose in Rian's shoulder and Rian's fingers gripped on the sleeve of his t-shirt. They had no where to live. No one wanted to say it out loud, but none of them wanted to live in a motel while the house was being repaired. Or worse ... the bus.
Zack snapped the phone shut, the fire trucks drove away leaving yellow caution tape around the property and the three on the curb looked up at him.
"We're staying with Matt."
Jack and Rian nodded. Alex just smiled.
Because yeah ... it was going to be okay. Even if they weren't allowed to bring their straighteners with them
