A/N: This is my first Jalex fic and will also be the first fic I ever finish. I apologise if the quality of my writing isn't good but I do enjoy writing this so I'll carry on anyway.

Chapter 1

Carefully, Jack placed the final things he needed for college in his back before taking a second to enjoy the last moments he would have in his room for a long while. After a quick check that almost everything was now in the suitcase, he zipped it shut and it dawned on him.

“This is it. I’m finally going to college.” He whispered to himself, feeling rather weird about the whole situation. Sure, the college he was going to wasn’t that far away, but this would be the first time that the American boy would be living away from home. In reality, he had no idea what college would be like either and he found himself especially worried about what his roommate would be like once he got there. One thing he could not stand would be to hate the one person he’d have to live with for the next year.

Taking a last look in the mirror, Jack found no reason why anybody would be a dick to him at first appearance. He didn’t look like the type of person who regularly got into fights and the only thing that would give him that edge would be his height. Apart from that, Jack’s mid-length hair and soft features didn’t show him to be much of a threat.

Eventually, Jack managed to get his oversized case down the stairs where his family were waiting to say their goodbyes. None of them had ever been too good at saying bye, despite it only being for half a term, but he appreciated the effort put in by his siblings and parents. They each hugged him in turn and wished him luck in what would come before allowing him to dive quickly into a taxi and be sped off to the rest of his life.

Alex was always one for doing what he wanted, and his move to America was certainly one of the bigger decisions he’d made in his life. Sure, he felt bad leaving England to go study in America, but once he had his mind set on the change of scenery, nothing would have been able to stop him. The English boy hadn’t packed too much either, just enough clothes to last him until he had money to buy more whilst being over there.

After all, despite telling his friends he’d be back, Alex had no intention of ever moving back to his home town, or anywhere near it for that matter. America had always been his dream and now that he had the chance to be there, he wasn’t going to throw it away because he was home sick.

After the first 4 hours, Alex fell asleep. His mind was soon filled with the dreams of success that he so desired and a smile crept across his face as he finally reached that euphoria he only ever seemed to experience once asleep.

That was until he was awoken by severe turbulence.

Well, this was off to a good start.
