Master Post.

It was mid-afternoon the next day that Jack decided to call Alex with details for their date. He already had it all planned out in his head - that perfect story book romance that Alex was sure to fall for. Who wouldn't be dazzled by an expensive restaurant with extravagant clothing and classical music playing in the background? Who wouldn't be left starstruck by champagne and suits and nice cars?

He would have Alex eating out of the crack of his ass by the time he was through with him.

Jack had never been insecure, but the second Alex picked up the phone with a soft, “Hello?” he hung up.

He didn't know why, but the sudden thought occurred to him; what if Alex didn't like going to expensive restaurants or wearing suits or riding in nice cars? Or what if he felt too uncomfortable there? Surely, with the current job he had, he couldn't go out to such places often. What if he felt out of place and couldn't have a good time there?

And so, Jack decided to think this through a little more clearly.

Maybe a walk in the park? A picnic as the sun set behind the hills?

He shook his head at that. What if he came off as cheap, taking him to a free park and making a free home-cooked meal? Or what if he ended up hating Jack's cooking - because, to be completely honest, Jack sucked at cooking, and he would never force even his enemies to eat one of his dishes. And what if Alex thought it was lame or cheesy?

Maybe a family dinner? There was a nice place up the street that he used to take Kyle to on Saturday nights when they had nothing to do. Maybe Alex would like that?

No, that wasn't a good idea either. It was too plain, too simple, too ordinary. Alex wouldn't find it to be “a night to remember,” or something he would want more of, right? If Jack took him there, there was no way Alex would want to come back for more. Sure, it was good for Kyle - but that was after they were already together. And Alex was nothing like Kyle.

Maybe a movie? There were quite a few good ones out, and he could let Alex pick whatever he wanted to watch.

That was even worse than the ideas before it. There was never any time to talk during the movie, and he wouldn't be able to show him how great of a catch he truly was. Besides, Alex's face was something he wanted to see, and he wasn't about to waste his time sitting in a dark theatre.

Jack...Jack had never had this problem before. Because everyone said yes right away to him, so there was no reason to worry that the first date might also be the last one if he didn't leave a good first impression. Because he always won everyone over with his charm from the second they met, and he didn't need to dazzle them. Because this one was actual sort of important, in Jack's mind. The ultimate challenge.

He sat down on the couch, his cell phone in his hands. Biting his lip, he stared down at the device and tried to come up with something.

What would Alex like?

What would impress Alex?

What would fit Alex perfectly?

He smiled, thinking of the perfect place. He had a friend that worked near there too...he could set things up, and...

Grinning, he dialed Alex's number once more, holding the phone up to his ear.

“Hello?”

He smirked, “Hay, darling. You miss me?”

“Pfft,” Alex scoffed. “Hardly.”

Jack decided to ignore that comment and instead continued, “So, about our date...”
