Alex felt ready to off himself.

Things looking better? Fuck that.  His life was in a downwards spiral and it was heading for hell.
It had been a week since Jack had come to Alex’s house for dinner, since he’d said all those things that Alex thought he’d meant.  And since then, Alex had heard nothing.

Nothing.

And if it were actually possible; Jack was being a bigger dickhead than usual towards him.  He now took it upon himself to start insulting Alex at every possible opportunity, regardless if Alex deserved it or not.
The worst part about it was that whenever Jack made a comment about what he was saying or doing; Alex couldn’t reply.
Not that he didn’t want to, his brain just wouldn’t work.  He got tongue ties and stuttered.  So he just kept his mouth shut and ignored him now to save himself the embarrassment of losing his speech.
He wasn’t entirely sure why he could no longer produce witty comebacks nut he wanted his skill back soon.
He didn’t feel like himself.

Alex felt like his world was falling down; Daniel knew about him and Jack (after a conversation a few hours after Jack had left and Alex had fully explained everything).  Jack himself was being a douche band and Zack and Rian seemed completely oblivious to Alex slowly descending into misery.
He wasn’t eating properly, he barely slept and he looked constantly pale.  The only person who seemed to notice was Daniel but there wasn’t a hope in hell that Alex was going to let his fifteen year old brother give him a lecture about looking after your body and the importance of sleep. Blah.Blah.Blah.
Alex just felt so alone.  He was surrounded but there was nothing there to surround him.  He was weak from the lack of food; quickly losing weight and he felt so isolated.

So, to compensate for the spare time he had from not sleeping; Alex began to play his guitar more often.  He took it everywhere in the last week and whenever he got a free moment; he was scribbling ideas into a notebook.  It was filled with page after page of little lyric snippets

And that was where Alex found himself today.  It was lunch and he was currently sat at their usual table.  His tray of food lay untouched next to him and he was scribbling furiously as new words seemed formed in his head.  Words made sentences.  Sentences that needed to be written down.
He didn’t notice when Rian sat down and started to talk to him.  And he only looked up when a chip hit him in the head.
“Don’t ignore me dickhead.” Rian frowned.
“Sorry, I was concentrating” he replied
“I saw” he laughed “what you working on?”
Alex snapped the book closed as Rian tried to read it.
“Nothing. I mean... it’s private.” He scowled.
“Dude, calm down.” He rolled his eyes and took a big bite out of his pizza.
They sat in silence until Zack arrived and Alex has never been so pleased to see him before in his life.
“Hey” he greened and took a seat next to Alex.
“Hey-ho” Rian said
“Hi.” Alex mumbled.
“Well; this is awkward...” Zack muttered, popping a salad leaf into his mouth.

Alex smirked and went back to writing into his notebook.  He was highly aware of the conversation Zack and Rian were having; despite the fact they were whispering and trying not to be heard.
“Is he okay?” Zack asked.
“Beats me, he’s stressy today” Rian replied.
“Why?”
“Why is he ever stressy?”
“There must be a reason...”
“I don’t know”
“Should we just keep an eye on him?”
“Sounds good” Rian leant back in his chair and sighed.
“So, how’s your day been then, Alex?” Zack was obviously attempting to start some kind of conversation.
“Fine” he shrugged “yours?”
“Good” Jack smiled softly. “You okay? You’re a little quiet”
“Fine” Alex repeated.

There was another silence.  An awkward, strained silence.  But Alex didn’t really care.
He just continued to write.
That was until Jack sat down and began to loudly complain about Lunch queues and the prices.
