Summary: They hate each other. Pure detest... So that’s why they’ve been making out secretly for the last two years... right.
Masterpost Alex stared at Zack. His words echoing around Alex’s head, on repeat.
Are you gay?
He suddenly realised that Zack was waiting for an answer.
“W-What? No!” he probably looked quite horrified “God, no! Why would you even think that?”
Zack’s cheek flushed “Umm, I thought that may-maybe you... actually; never mind” he stumbled over his words.
“I’m not gay, seriously Zee” Alex looked at him evenly.
“Let’s get you home, you look really sick” Zack was obviously trying to change the subject and Alex really didn’t mind; he welcomed it.
He gave a short nod as the engine started and Zack pulled out of the space and onto the highway.
The silence in the car was awkward so Alex flicked the radio on. The tapped his hand on his leg to the beat of the song.
When they pulled up to Alex’s house, Zack reached over and turned the volume right down.
“You want me to come in and make you some cocoa?” he asked “Or a cup of tea? Maybe a sandwich?”
“No thanks, I’m going to go straight to bed and get some sleep” he attempted a weak smile.
“Okay. Keep warm and remember to eat” Zack told him.
“Yes, Mom” he smirked
“Shut up” he frowned “I’m serious”
“Okay” Alex mumbled “Thanks for everything”
“What are friends for?”
“Hugs?” he asked hopefully.
Zack laughed as he leaned over and pulled Alex into a hug. It was an awkward angle but Alex really didn’t care, he just really wanted a hug.
He buried his face into Zack’s shoulder and took a deep breath.
“Everything will be alright” Zack whispered.
Alex shook his head “You’re wrong.” He replied, his words muffled into the fabric of his t-shirt “I’ve really fucked up” he admitted “I’ve fucked up so bad this time”
“What’s happened?” Zack leaned out of the embrace and looked him in the eye.
“I-I can’t tell you” Alex groaned.
Zack raised an eyebrow “Why not?”
“Because it’s not just me that I’ve messed up” he said.
“Are you in trouble?”
“No”
“Will you talk to me when you’re ready?”
Alex nodded and Zack smiled sadly at him as he climbed out the car; he bent down to the open door.
“Thanks, Zee. You’re amazing... I’ll see you later” he closed the door and walked into his house and then slammed his front door with a loud groan.
What the hell am I doing with my life? he mentally screamed. He made another angry noise before running up the stairs and into his room.
Alex ditched his backpack on the floor, followed by his shirt and jeans. He put on a pair of grey sweats and just as he was going to get into bed, the sound of his ringtone filled the room, echoing off the walls.
After quickly searching his floor in the darkness, Alex found his cell in the pocket of his discarded jeans. He fumbled with it before he managed to press the ‘answer’ button.
“Hello?” Alex said into the receiver.
“Hey sweetie, your school rang and said you went home?” his Mom said “Not feeling too good?”
“Oh, hey Mom” he sighed “Umm, yeah... Zack drove me home and I was just getting into bed”
“Do you want me to come home?” she asked, worry obvious in her voice.
“No, just going to get some sleep”
“Sure?”
“Yes, Mom!” he rolled his eyes although she couldn’t see him through the phone.
“Oh baby, I’ll be home at five. If you need anything then you call me right away”
“Okay” he tutted.
“Love you, have a good sleep”
“I will” he grumbled.
Then he hung up and put his cell onto his bedside table and got under his duvet. He snuggled into his covers and tried to block out all thoughts as he fell asleep.
