Jack felt absolutely numb as he sat in the pouring rain, Cassadee and Rian standing over Alex's seemingly lifeless body. He didn't want to speak to anyone. He just wanted Alex back. That's all he ever wanted. All he ever needed.

"I love you." The last words Alex had spoken to him. Jack prayed they wouldn't be the last. The words kept bouncing around in his head. Did Alex know he wasn't going to make it down safely? The thought made Jack sick.

He ran to the forest line and heaved, but nothing came up. He hadn't eaten in days, it seemed. He felt a warmth on his back and looked to see Cassadee, her eyes bloodshot. Jack couldn't take it anymore. He hugged Cassadee like his life depended on it. He buried his face into her small shoulders and let out silent tears. The rain was still pounding down mercilessly, but at least they had each other.

"Jack... I think he'll be alright." Cassadee croaked, tightening her tiny arms around his torso. He pulled back, biting his lip.

"Why isn't he waking up then?" He asked, shaking from being wet and cold and afraid.

"I don't know..." She said, her eyes glistening.

"What happened?" Rian asked Sierra as they sat, gaurding Alex's body from the rain as best as they could.

"He was climbing up the outlook... and lightning struck above him... Thank God it didn't directly strike him." Sierra said, her voice shaking. Rian looked down at his motionless body. The only thing keeping him looking alive were his rosy cheeks and eyes moving behind shut lids.

"I can take you to where they're keeping them... but only the lookout tower, unless I get authorization, which is kind of short notice." Dave said as they drove through the pouring rain.

"I just need to see them..." Mark said, a hint of despair in his voice. He loved those boys and it was his job to keep them safe and he'd failed. He felt awful. Wretched. Seeing this, Dave nodded.

"I can get us in." He assured Mark, clapping a hand on the smaller man's shoulder. Mark let out a sigh of relief, but he was still on edge. They'd made it to a small bridge over an expanse of forest. It connected to an outlook.

"Where the fuck are they putting them?" Mark asked, horrified by the sight already.

"I'm not even allowed to know everything, Mark. I've never been within the confines of the 'prison'." Dave said, equal disgust in his voice. They drove accross the bridge and to the the outlook tower. Dave swiped his card in the ID slot, a beep and clank of unlocking bolts telling them they could procceed.

"Your files aren't published yet, so nobody knows who you are here." Dave assured him as they walked into the building.

"Who's there?" A voice asked nervously. Mark knew that voice. They all seemed to stop dead in their tracks. Mark looked beyond the partitions and almost dropped dead from who he saw.

Tom stood, speechless, as was Mark. As if by some unspoken agreement, they rushed to one another and embraced. It wasn't cheesy like one would expect a reunion of such enormity to be. It was emotionally charged.

"I thought I'd never see you again." Mark choked, clutching Tom. Tom couldn't speak, for fear of just losing it.

"I guess I was wrong..." Dave said quietly, smiling to himself.

"Fuck, man... Fuck." Was all Tom could say through laughing. He never thought he would find Mark again. He never thought Mark would find him.

"What are you doing here?" Tom asked, finally.

"I'm looking for my adopted sons." He said simply.

------------------------------------------------------------

"Hey, guys..." Sierra said after what seemed like hours. They all looked at her expectingly. Jack practically jumped up. He ran over to Alex's side and knelt by him, pushing his soaking bangs out of his face. He almost quit breathing when he saw Alex's eyes start to open.

"Alex... Alex..." Jack said, almost crying from relief. "I'm right here. It's Jack..." He said, taking Alex's hand in his, squeezing it. Alex groaned slightly, his eyes now fully open. He looked calm at first, but then everything came flooding back to him. He sat up, his heart racing, looking around. Jack knew something was terribly wrong though.

"Alex?" Alex asked, his breathing getting faster. Jack felt constricted.

"Oh no..." Cassadee said, her voice shaking.

"Alex, it's me. Jack." Jack said, trying to smile.

"I know who you are, Jack. How could I forget you?" Alex said, but he still looked horrified. "I-I'm... Alex?" He asked. Jack felt faint.

"Yes. You're Alex Gaskarth. My best friend in the whole world." Jack said, only words away from crying.

"I can't remember my own name?" Alex asked, feeling so confused. Then he realized he couldn't remember a thing about himself. He knew everything about Jack. About everyone else standing around him. He knew them. He knew what had happened hours ago and everything he'd ever done with Jack.

But he couldn't remember anything before the night he met Jack. Nothing. He couldn't remember anything about himself.

"Jack... Jack, I don't know who I am." Alex practically sobbed. Jack couldn't say anything. He just simply held Alex, never wanting to let him go.

"It's just minor memory loss..." Rian said, hopefully. Jack was so distraught, he'd believe anything that sounded good.

-----------------------------------------------

"To get down there, we'd have to use the ladder." Tom said, sounding as if he liked the idea as much as getting teeth pulled.

"Shouldn't be a problem." Dave stepped in, sounding gallant as always.

Suddenly, there was rustling coming from another room. Dave and Mark looked back, expecting the worst, but only saw two drowsy looking boys walking out of the back room.

John rubbed his eyes and blinked.

"You must be Mark." He said, positive. Mark smiled, letting out a breath of relief.

"That I am." He said. He wasn't sure how John had guessed it.

"Are you looking for Jack and Alex?" Josh asked. Mark nodded, which caused both the boys to smile.

"We're coming with you." They both said in unison.

Tom just shook his head. "Too dangerous. What if you get caught? I'm clocked in for twelve hours, so we'll be back before another officer gets here." He said. No bones about it. They weren't going.

"C'mon, they're our friends!" John said indignantly. Josh didn't argue though. The thought of climbing down a rickety ladder wasn't appealing in the least.

Dave opened a door on the floor and pressed a button, which let loose a rope ladder that reached the ground.

"Fuck, you would think they would have upgraded this thing by now." Dave grumbled disapprovingly. "I'll go first." He said, testing the ladder. It was hardly ever used, so it was holding up perfectly.

"See you at the bottom." He said and started his descent.
