!mod post: tagging your entries. it's easy, and makes your mods' lives much easier!

Hello Boners! It's me, Evan. The newest addition to the All Time Boners moderator family! Family meaning myself and Gabe (cantsaythursday ), but I digress.

I am making this post to address all of our lovely contributors about an issue that I know concerns a great number of you. Just kidding. But it does concern Gabe and I, and that issue is tagging your entries! Some of you may notice that your tags are changing after your entries are post. Well that would be me, trolling ATB and looking at every letter of every tag making sure things are right.

First of all, I want to go over exactly how to tag because evidently it's unclear to some people. One tags their lovely work of writing by typing your tags into the bar labeled 'tags' at the bottom of the 'Post an Entry' window. Use commas to separate the tags. Also, you don't need to use the '#' symbol. Just type the tag, type a comma, space, repeat.

Now that we've gone over that little detail, we're going to deal with the evidently much harder to grasp concept of the specific format we at All Time Boners would like your tags to be in. Let's face it, correct formatting is sexy. And on top of that, it makes it miles easier for the mods and your readers to say, find old chapters of a chaptered fic that they would like to reread. Or maybe, you would like to find a fic that has a specific pairing, rating, what have you. Well, we're going to make finding those things easier for you all. Right now.

In order to actually ensure that one could find all possible fics ever written that contain their desired detail, we must keep all tags uniform and correct. So, here are how we mods would like your tags. This is very important and a crucial detail in your entires, so make sure you get it right!

Pairing: this tag will look like this: "pairing: evan/rian dawson". Please use the full names of each person being slashed. Don't use abbreviations, such as 'jalex', because when we get into more obscure pairings there could be a multitude of possible names for the pairing itself. And, we would like to keep every pairing under the same one or two tags.

Author: this tag will look like this: "author: evanlikesthrust". Some of you have not used this tag. This is one of the most important tags! If someone really likes your writing, then you want to make it easier for them to find your writing after it's buried in the bowels of the ATB archives, no?

Rating: this tag will look like this: "rating: nc-17".  We've had much less of a problem with this tag, so let's just leave it at it would be nice to include this tag so if I'm in the mood to read sexy times then I can find your NC-17 rated fic easily!

Chaptered/Standalone: this tag will look either like this: "chaptered: the boy with the pink bass", or this: "standalone". Obviously, if your fic is a standalone, just tag it as such. However, if your fic is chaptered, then this is a crucial tag to have! If I start reading your fic at say, chapter 7, and I end up loving it and want to read all the previous chapters in one sitting, I want to be able to find all the chapters! So, it is necessary that you tag every chapter with "chaptered: here is where your title goes"

These four tags are the most important. In fact, they're really the only ones that are necessary unless you're writing some fic with a really out-there genre.

Also, I've seen a lot of tags that are like, "bad writing", "crap", "stupid writing", "sappy", etc. Your writing is not bad! Someone out there will love it!

One more thing I would like to add: It is not necessary to tag the band, the bandom, each individual character, or anything else. This is an All Time Low slash community, so the bandom is already evident and so are most of the characters.

Sorry if that sounded rage-like to anyone. I'm kind of a formatting Nazi.

Thanks guys! I hope to see improvement in the tags! Or I'll kill cute rabbits. Just kidding. Maybe. Maybe not. Count on it. Just kidding don't. Do. Okay.
