Honesty

Hmm, this is worrying me. I keep feeling a desire to be more and more honest here, but I'm afraid I'll go a bit too far. Some things are best kept to myself, which you'd probably agree with anyway ( Read more... )

Wow. That is silly. Changing humpty dumpty's ending not to upset children? Reminds me of German fairy tales VS American ones. German Little Red Riding Hood got eaten. American LRRH lived. The thing with the rainbow sheep though... couldn't that possibly offend the gay and lesbian community since their color is the rainbow? Plus the changing of litrature? That's like taking the word "nigger" out of anything placed in the American South Pre-Civil War. It's not right.

Hmm, since you mentioned it... I can't actually remember whether I was taught that Red Riding Hood got eaten or not. I'm sure I remember the wolf eating somebody, but doesn't he eat her grandmother? I definately remember at least once hearing a version when some lumberjack came in and chopped the wolf up with an axe... but that's even more violent!

I don't think there's any worry about the rainbow. If they'd say gay sheep, maybe, but since those subscribing to the 'rainbow' tend to be the 'gay pride' type, they're unlikely to be bothered by it.

I agree though, changing literature is stupid, whatever the reason. If there's something wrong with it, point it out, but don't cover it up and hope it goes away, 'cause it won't.

Hmm. Sorry, taken my time to reply to this, but it's still relevant. I actually don't agree with a lot of what you just said, based on past experience - I think you usually do do whatever is possible, or what you want to do, but only up to a certain point, and even then with unusual exceptions (or lack of exceptions). I'm still trying to work out where that point is, because it appears to be very variable. This is what I wanted to explain to you, but didn't because there wasn't time. When there is, I think I should...

Hey my Babies
I know, all this trans-atlantic BS is hard for you both, as long as you keep the final goal in mind, you will understand what all the sacrifice is all about. I only wish I had the kind of love that you two share in my life time
I still don't know if it exists for me or not, but one thing is that a "real" love if worth waiting for and fighting for....this is just my 2 cents worth.....love you both
