McKay gave Catherine a brief moment, just one, a dubious look. "I uh, appreciate the sentiment, but you can just drop the whole idea that a woman will want me. I know how I can be."
"Yes, well," McKay admitted, giving Carson a genuine smile over the party. "Carson's sort of the best friend I had before I met Sheppard and he asked me to be his best man. So I'm here by choice, not force."
"That was bordering on sweet, Rodney," she said, looking over at where Carson was and smiling as well. "It's nice to see that someone can do that to you, even if he is marrying someone else."
"Yes, you do," Jill agreed, leaning against him briefly, a little bothered by how moved she'd been by the entire ceremony. This was what being on an island did to a person, she supposed.
"You think everyone gets that sort of happiness?" she asked, gesturing vaguely at Carson or Catherine. She had her doubts.
McKay turned to give Carson a surprised, but pleased smile, saluting him with a full drink. "Actually? It's not bad. You have decent food, the place looks amazing thanks to yours truly, plus, I got to be your best man," he boasted, still pleased about that.
