Okay, so, I've got a Masters to be working on, but this is relevant, I swear. In fact, so relevant that...well, you'll see. Guilermo del Toro is an amazing director. You might remember him from such things as Hellboy, Hellboy II, Blade II and Pan's Labyrinth. But a move to Wgtn would be pretty drastic no? Although, they might do some shooting around auckland

What's drastic about moving to Wellington to be part of something THIS EPIC?

Anyway, Wellington's not the only place in NZ they make movies. Moo got steady work in Auckland on sets, ableit I guess a lot of that was TV.

Slightly tangential - someone was asking me about "who is Cthulhu" the other day, and I gave a short spiel about us as pond scum and the old ones as fish... I was wondering though, if you could recommend a couple of key stories for me to recommend. I've browsed Lovecraft, but you're an actual expert.

Aw shucks, 'expert'! I've been answering this question a lot recently and I've been thinking of putting some kind of post here and on Facebook as a starter's guide to Lovecraft.

But anyway. Lovecraft's work is a bit hit and miss. He did write pulp, and not all of his stories were great (like most writers, I guess) His tone and content also varied a lot, his writing ranged between sci-fi and supernatural horror, and from the cosmic to the personal ( ... )
