Lost my connection after all.

Never mind, that's another 18 CDs ripped.

Si's just dumped the bombshell on me that she wants to go part-time.

There goes my pay rise then....

part-time, the lemonheads, ripping

Tell her you'd like to go part time too :->

One thing we're both agreed on is that I continue to pursue my career as best as I can.

If that hadn't been my gameplan, I'd already be part time.

My main issue with it isn't one of money. It's that as soon as Si and the kids are on different hours from me, and are therefore not commuting with me, I'm spending a lot less time with my family. Needs must and all that, but not a particularly pleasing prospect.

If it's what's best for them (and it probably is), I can deal with it - but I'm not going to like it.

Would Si not go to three days a week, but on the same hours on those days? That way you'd still be together most of the time?

And yeah, I can see that whatever's best for the kids comes first. Is she going part-time to child-mind? And if so, will it just be until they hit school age?

Nah, she can't really miss whole days in her job. Her plan is to do six hours days, most likely 10-4. Which means I won't see them at all in the morning (I'll be up and away before they rise), and will go some days barely seeing the kids at all (those days where I'm working late ( ... )

Oh dear... I suspect that juggling work/family life is probably never going to be easy (unless you become millionaires, obviously!) Maybe it won't be as bad as you think, though.

On another note: My Drug Buddy! Yay!

Great song, isn't it? I hadn't listened to it for AGES, then stuck my "Best Of" on the other night. 19 tracks, and I listened to the whole album three times in a row. Those were the days.

It's not going to be easy, but I'm a secondary concern (within my self) to the well-being and happiness of my family. I'm not going to like it, but if me seeing less of them means they're all happier and more well-balanced, I can deal.

Just have to make the most of my weekends.
