Lex stopped dead in the doorway, eyes widening at the sight of Superman sitting calmly in his office. Jaw clenching, he slammed the door behind him and stalked over to the desk.
"I don't think we have anything to talk about. Get out."
"We do," said Superman, steepling his fingers in front of him. "You see--I have a proposal to make. I'm going to take over the world, and I want you to join me."
"It breaks the ice as well as anything else," said Superman, smiling slightly. He gauged Lex's reaction carefully-- the pause, the brief increase in his pulse. Interesting. He sat up in his chair, straight-backed and, once again, purely professional.
For a moment. Then he remembered that this was still Lex, no matter what insane phase he was going through at the moment.
"Look...we both know how this ends. I don't want to fight you. What would it take for you to call it quits, other than my head on a plate?"
