I just stumbled across this article in the Age. I just love it how the author says in one paragraph:

I'm not advocating that we should put it down to "boys being boys" (great, we agree on that)

Then (in the same sentence) he proceeds to say about an incident where a gang of young men trashed the college:

We must respect the cultural mores of different groups within our society.

Smashing common property and things that belong to other people is a time honoured tradition for those who celebrate the feast of St Testosterone.

Not all boys will be raised to see the wanton destruction of property as their birthright as males, but we must allow for those who do, as such behaviour enriches the cultural fabric of our society.

I just wish I had a son so that I could teach him to treat his sisters and I like servants while we indulge his natural inclinations to do whatever the hell he wants. *sigh*
