as someone who conducts surveys for a respectable survey group who does some quite important research for various legitimate organizations, i will say you have to consider the people who actually take part in these surveys. no matter how strict the quotas to ensure various groups of people are represented, it tends to be the people who have no one else to talk to / way too much time on their hands that end up agreeing to take part. these people do not neccessarily represent the population they are intending to represent at all. also. it never fails to amaze me how people can misinterpret the most basic question. and no matter how many times you repeat the question since you know they don't really mean their answer, they just heard the question wrong, they won't change their answer and you still have to enter the answer they give, because that is their answer. research is fucked.
maybe. hehe some people aren't. but even when they aren't, they are usually grumpy grouchy people who just want an ear to rant to about things having nothing to do with the actual questions you are asking, which in turn makes them grouchier and produces answers more negative that they would have originally been. friggin people.
i usually do them too. and that is SO GOOD. cause young people are the hardest age group to get. we will be doing surveys and they will change the quota to only 16-24 year olds cause we don't have enough of those, and it will take like 4 hours to get a few so we can interview other people again too. about 95% of super old people agree to them, and about 5% of young people agree. and 1000 80 year olds sure don't represent the population of london as a whole. [also, it's a lot harder to catch younger people at home]. i would say like 20-30% of the people who say yes to surveys i feel are 'normal' people. the rest.. you just gotta laugh when you hang up the phone.

i would say like 20-30% of the people who say yes to surveys i feel are 'normal' people. the rest.. you just gotta laugh when you hang up the phone.
