MCA #6, Just after sunset

Oct 24, 2015 11:00

Allie was up and still trying to figure out what her plans were for the evening. Check out whatever Homecoming festivities were going on? Pop by Caritas and see if Mike was around? Take her bike out?

Decisions, decisions...

[Expecting one, but open if anyone else wants to stop by or call]

After everything that had happened in the last few days, the last place Clint wanted to be was New York. It was possible he'd been rude to leave the X-Men without saying much of a goodbye, but he could only handle Emma and Scott's optimism for so long. Sure, Kitty might still be alive like they insisted on repeatedly telling him, but that's not what Clint's gut said, and he needed to get away from the mansion to start processing on his own.

Of course, coming back to town led to its own problem, namely that Clint didn't want to go home. How was he going to face Lucky and Rook, and a house full of things that belonged to Kitty? No, going home wasn't an option, and as tempting as it was to go drink himself into a stupor, Caritas wasn't an option either for similar reasons.

When Clint passed by the MCA and saw the light was on in Allie's apartment, he stopped for a second. Allie got along well with Kitty - hell, she was probably one of the last people in town who talked to her, and if Clint didn't tell someone what had happened, he was ( ... )

Allie wasn't really expecting anyone, but it was Homecoming and if there was a tiny part of her that hoped for a surprise visit from a certain space marine, well, she wasn't gonna tell.

Smile on her face, she opened the door.

Huh....

"Hey Clint, what's going on?" Allie asked, ignoring the voice in her head that was suddenly screaming about bad feelings.

"Hey Allie. Uh, I hope I'm not interrupting anything?" He probably should have checked that before coming up, geez.

"For an evil creature of the night, I lead a surprisingly boring life," she said. "Nothing going on here. Where's Kitty?"

Time had started to slow again, though Kaidan wasn't aware of that - the Normandy crew had been swinging around playing mailman and clearing out hotspots for Hackett for a while now.

Felt like the first time in a while he'd gotten the time to sit down.

So Allie's phone was ringing.

Allie almost ignored her phone. But she didn't get call from all that many people, and considering that number was now down one, she couldn't...wouldn't ignore the ones that were left.

Of course answering her phone meant finding it under the books that somehow had wound up thrown about the room.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Allie," Kaidan said, stretching his legs out for a second or two. "Sorry I haven't called lately. What's up?"

There was a certain irony to getting a phone call from the friend you always worried about dying doing something heroic just a little while after finding out another friend had done just that.

"Kaidan...Hey," Allie replied. She thought about trying to fake that things were okay, but Kaidan knew Kitty. "Things kind of suck right now."
