Eh, stitches can come out in 7 days, so 9 days is ok. As long as the edges have healed together... :/ And having seen how some medical people take out stitches (I take them out excellently) I can understand why he'd want to remove them himself.

Oh, hon. I think he took out his stitches in like 3 days. too soon.

I was considering taking my stitches out after 4 days because they were itching and I just wanted them OUT. But I do not want the incision site of many incisions to have bad things happen to it. I have been cut open 3 times in the same site over 5 months, of course it will all heal, but I am trying to not make it worse.

First ankle surgery was apparently done by the surgeon that I should make a complaint about but I do not want to because I did not die and then awesome surgeon fixed it all. There were something like 200 sutures for 4 incisions, one 6 inches, one 3 inches and two an inch long after my first surgery for this break. I could see the people blanch when the saw the sites. Not pretty.

One of the orthopaedic surgeons in clinic last week asked one of us to take out some stitches on a girl who 'hit a train' (!??!?!?!) and that she had 'a million of them... or like, 30'.

Heh. So, two of us went in the room, armed with two trays and two suture removal kits, expecting the worst...

Turns out the girl hit a non-moving train while on some bike and gashed open her leg. She had 16 stitches for us to take out, and it took like a minute :) Million stitches, lol :)

But yes, I've seen wounds like yours before :( All I can say is, I am glad they used stitches and not staples. In adult surgery, I find some surgeons are so lazy they will use staples simply because the guns become pre-loaded.

I am really happy that staples were not used. Really happy. The poor woman that took out my stiches from surgery 1 was SO apologetic, when she had nothing to do with any of surgery 1. She was kind of horrified by the mess. I felt really bad for her, having to take them out. It took quite a while and each time she had to tug she was so nice about it, this is going to hurt - hold on. A huge mess.

I am really on the mend now, all good. 16 stiches - such an easy number! I did lol about a million stitches. Poor girl, but a non-moving train? Of course I broke my ankle while walking up the stair in my house. Stupid me did something bad in a much more mundane way. I hope that she is feeling much better now!

I love that you know about this stuff. xoxo
