Guy paced the room, alternating between fury and worry. Allan hadn't reported back to him last night, and if that ridiculous kitchen wench had it right, he was missing.

That could only mean one thing: Guy's plans to nab Hood and his men had failed, and probably thanks to Allan's incompetence.

Frustrated, he balled his hand into a fist and decided to take his mood out on the door. But he stopped short when he heard boots scraping across the floor outside, followed by a feeble knock.

He swung the door open, and without even really looking at the man, he grabbed Allan by the collar and shoved him inside.

"And where have you been all day?"

(OOC: Not sure I'm doing this right, but I figure we can work it out as we go along)

Oh, shit, Allan thought vaguely, as he was wrenched through the doorway. Well, he didn't know exactly what he'd expected, but he'd been hoping for something a bit less...furious than this. He made a half-hearted attempt to brush himself down, but he knew it wouldn't help.

"Just...around the place, you know." He knew that wouldn't help either, but he wasn't about to admit that he'd been sneaking a girl out of the place - a peasant out of the upstairs, at that.

(OOC - you're doing fine, no sweat! Sorry about the delay on this)

Guy gave Allan what he hoped was a look of utter contempt. There was something shifty about Allan, more than usual. He could not help but suspect Allan was keeping something from him.

Nothing new there, Guy thought. If anything, Allan's reputation for being less-than-honest was the thing Guy liked best about him. But it didn't inspire his trust, at least not right now.

"And what about Hood? Tell me something. And better make it something good, Allan."

Allan sighed mournfully. Straight into this, was it? Well, there wasn't a better way to say it, so he might as well just dive in and hope for the best.

"Well, I left the hunt, like you said, and I hung around a bit waiting for you or Brian, and I dunno what happened there, but I never seen either of you. So I ride off towards their camp, see if I can get in it while they're off trying to rob the hunt," -he was particularly pleased with this lie, because there was no way in hell anyone would find out about it- "and it turns out they're lying in wait for me. Surrounded me, got me off my horse and shook me down for some letter. I dunno where they picked that up from, but they was convinced I had a letter from the sheriff to somebody. So they kept me for a bit, gave me a hard time, then got bored and let me go."

It was a bad place to stop, but he didn't know what else to say; he spread his hands hopelessly with an 'I don't know what else you want' expression.
