God, this shit is just so fucking dumb. I can see the THIS IS HAPPENING BECAUSE WE THE WRITERS DECIDE SO neon red writing on the wall. TBTP decided they just had to have a spinoff and I completely approve of getting rid of the boring Originals from the main show, but as premises for a show go this is nonsensical

I'll go more in detail when I respond to you in my lj, but I don't think that any werewolf girl will do. I think Hayley is special. There's definitely a mystery about her family. So Klaus just can't kill Hayley and go knock up any ole random werewolf chick.

So I don't agree.

I think you might be missing the point that Klaus's real feelings don't in fact reflect his actions: Klaus cares more about family than anyone! He's been trying to command a family for 1000 years. Elijah is trying to show him that you can't command one, but perhaps you can create one, and then voila! magically, Klaus is offered the opportunity to create one.

So, the fact that Klaus didn't kill Hayley, or Marcel, or any of them but daggered Elijah is entirely the point: he is still trying to do it his way, even though it has failed him so many times before. Klaus is nuts, but at his heart he does desire that very thing, which is why his actions are not congruent with what he claims he wants. He silences those that are powerful, but who also speak truths he doesn't want to deal with.

Or at least, that's the way I took all of it.

But I do agree with you that Elijah and Hayley have good chemistry; for the first time I found her tolerable.

It seems that we have a different vision of Klaus and that's why we have such different opinions of the episode and his actions

Based on what I've read about what they intend this show to be about then (Klaus's redemption), I think you would spend all of your time feeling frustrated with it. So, do you plan to watch it, or was this enough for you to know it will just annoy you so you don't want to put yourself through that?

I was never particularly enthused about this show, since I find the Original tribe exceptionally boring and the backdoor pilot didn't exactly impress me.

The actual pilot was even worse, so I'm guessing I won't be watching and just reading recaps and so online so as not to miss potential crossovers or storylines that impact TVD.

Still, Rebekah is coming and I guess Elijah will be undaggered, so I suppose I'll give this a couple of eps more to see.

But yeah, I seriously doubt it will hook me, especially if they plan on redeeming Klaus. At best, I suppose it could made for hate watching.
