Also wouldn't it be nice to know WHY Thor and Jane like each other? They're both hot, but really, what else attracts them to each other?

SCIENCE. Jane is an astrophysicist, Thor is an alien from a more scientifically advanced society. She's attracted to him but first and foremost, she wants him to confirm her theories before they get all kissyface, and he woos her with discussion of the structure of the galaxy.

I guess? I am picking up what you're laying down but I suppose their giggly googly eyes steals the scientific thunder from their discussions. (And I only know the movies, so there is that. I know you're more of an expert!)

Well, she's a nurse (possibly now a doctor?) in the comics, and an EMT in the cartoon, so not so much there with the SCIENCE. Though I think Thor admires her commitment to helping people in the comics. Of course, in the comics, I think he's also involved with Sif.

Did not like the Dr Who special. For one thing, it was boring--I fell asleep three times while trying to watch it. And then they undid the emotional linchpin of the entire series. WTF? It just seemed like such a cheap way to make the Doctor the hero yet again without there being any real stakes for him.

LOL, sleep! I tend to drowse on even things I think I like. Sometimes there's just not enough to keep one's interest.

Also: YES, the linchpin of the WHOLE THING. The thing that made him, in my view, the most interesting. How can we view Nine and Ten NOW given THIS? I feel like Nine has been unraveled in particular. Their epic manpain about the genocide was actually pretty legendary and also nicely dark.

And they just figured out how to erase the whole war because why again? Oh there are three doctors who can make the planet disappear and then the Daleks will.. OMG it's kind of dumb, no? Now that I type it out. I'd better stop.

I REALLY enjoyed the special, although I know I didn't get all of the references. It killed me watching David and Billie in scenes together but not having them interact at all. I think the worst/best part of the 50th for me was how much it reminded me that I just really, really miss 10.

Thor: the Dark World = LOVE
I love it and all the Loki and Darcy parts... just tons and tons.

I feel that I enjoyed the Special, but then - as I wrote above in comments - there are things that just massively didn't make sense and kind of pissed me off.

I miss Nine and Ten, although by the end of Ten I was ready to see the back of him. But now I really miss him! What I do miss is RTD's way of making things meaningful and dark. Moffat and Smith are mostly light-hearted, 'oh noes what next!' and all is right with the world.

And David and Billie's chemistry was of course, NIFTY and I miss that.
