SGU/SGA

So, I guess Stargate Universe got renewed for another season. Which I find slightly odd, not that I know anything about its ratings. (What happened to Caprica, for instance?)

And not only that, but two SGA characters will show up. I don't know how I feel about that. (Tell me in comments who you want to see and what you don't want to see!)

I'll be happy to see anyone from SGA that isn't Jennifer Keller. I'll be even happier if she isn't even mentioned.

I think Caprica is coming back in the fall for S2. At least I haven't seen anything about it being cancelled.

Okay, well, yay Caprica! I mean, I didn't want to see it go away, per se.

Ditto on the Keller. I think Jewel Staite hasn't had a decent role since Firefly. But then again, FIREFLY rocked.

Oh, I just commented above that Jewel hasn't gotten a decent role since Firefly.

And it seems like it would hardly be Teyla or Ronon, which says a lot in and of itself.

honestly, i don't know anyone that watches it, it's amazing that stays but SGA doesn't.

I'm watching it... warily and with marginal interest. I don't like it. It's more of a sense of morbid curiosity perhaps.

SGA! *mourns*

I checked out the ratings are apparently it's shed about a million viewers from it's start to now and is now bobbing along rating just under what season five of SGA did. Interesting it rates really low with female viewers in comparison to other sci fi shows out there.

A million viewers ain't nothing to sneeze at. And I can't say I'm terrifically surprised about its female viewership given the attitude they put out there early on.

And them comparing it to SGA's Season Five is so patently unfair. Basically because it seemed to me like they put so much effort into killing SGA and are so defensive about it now if anyone is still loyal. *scratches head* Why do they want to kick the ass of their own shows? They should compare their numbers to those of BSG and THEN WE'LL TALK.

The negative comparisons don't help if you want to move over your previous viewers from one show to another. Sadly they can't pull that trick any more - the might have been able to for the first 10 episodes but once the ratings started their downward slide they certainly weren't going to play that trick for the last 10.

I suppose for political reasons they can't compare ratings to other shows outside the franchise, but why you'd want to at all seems bizaare - I guess they were trying to reinforce the idea of 'see, we were right in ditching the old and going with the new', but I think going in that direction wasn't the best pr campaign.
