My first fanfic was an EPIC Sweet Valley Twins fic... I was nine, and I wrote it in my shiny gold notebook. Occasionally, I'd dictate to my babysitter. It was awful. It was about six more years before I even knew what fanfic was though.

That's awesome! When I was nine, writing hadn't occurred to me yet...I hadn't even started writing about myself, really. (Of course, when I was 9, the internet didn't exist yet. Maybe if it had...LOL!) I'm a little jealous of your epic childhood fanfic. :D

OMG IT WAS TERRIBLE. It involved *dancing* and *bulima* and *pregnancy* and everything.

If a 9-year-old I was babysitting dictated it to me I would be seriously WTF?

WOW. That does, in fact, sound pretty epic. LMAO (Of course, I now totally want to read it... ;D )

Awww, but you were 9! People overlook all sorts of wtf things in kids. :)

Oh and I asked you because your memories must be more significant if they had to make it through a memory filter.

Yeah, that's one HIMYM meme I don't actually agree with. LOL Lindsay and I, at Smith, decided after one epic night of random conversation that everything makes sense after 2am. And it is a true, true fact. :D

Wasn't that night at Starbucks the night we saw Away We Go? Silly. ;)

The bad memories don't really go away. The good memories are the tough ones to retain....and I don't know that it's significance so much as it is just making stuff up. One of my greatest fears is that the good memories from further back than say, college are all just things my mind's made up to fill in the blanks. It's been proven that the brain does that, with memories, and it scares the crap out of me. Because I know that there are huge gaps, and so how do I know that the random things that remain from within them aren't just completely made up?

So uh, yeah. LOL
