There's a video on the BBC website where Holly Earl describes her character as 14 years old.

Now see, that I wouldn't quite have bought. I think she looks younger than she is, but not that much younger. On the other hand, 14 could make some thematic sense; the tree queen said she was stong but too young, and I can see where that could sensibly translate into female but not quite sexually mature enough to bear life.
