meteor was considerable smaller than the moon - maybe it wouldn't have been a big enough bang.

she has a secret alien living computer that she just mindwiped for her convenience. morally messy fun.

Sarah Jane didn't get arrested because a military intelligence outfit (UNIT) told the police that she was secretly allowed to kidnap teenage boys if she thought she had a good reason. That's, er, teensy tiny bit worrying and not terribly anti-establishment really.

I think the main problem is if you look at all three shows they think it's okay if it's them. Just in general. *sigh*

on the other hand I'm mostly quite happy to watch aliens go boom, so why I complaining?

*nods* Or maybe the meteor would have destroyed the alien things in impact--the moon would have torn the Earth apart prior to impact. So, after re-watching the episode, I've decided that that's easy enough to fanwank that I withdraw that objection.

Sarah really did have a good reason, though. So I'm assuming that UNIT either knew what that reason was or had some other means of checking up on her, and wasn't just letting her do whatever she wanted because they liked her.

Although her relationship with UNIT is certainly troubling in some ways, although I can't quite articulate why.

Who was trying to blow up the word. C'mon, the Doctor would not only have done it, but would then have made the brainwashing seem like some redemptive process. At least SJS isn't claiming to have saved Mr. Smith's soul.
