Well, yeah, but it's painted with a pretty heavy brush there (no pun intended). Given the rampant racism about Obama (and the fact a friggin' fist bump can be interpreted as a terrorist symbol by a significant portion of this country, *sigh*), the artist might have chosen another route to convey that the image exists in the minds of bigots (maybe a little more over the top?).
Although I reiterate, it's extremely sad that so many in this country actually believe this to be true that it needs to be (IMO) more over the top to convey the message that it's over the top.
I really like that, though. It's rightly controversial because it's daring the bigots to admit this is how they really think when they see Obama, and it's mocking them for it. I love artists who do that.
Someone at the Chicago Tribune said: The cover reminded me of the April exchange between Comedy Central's Jon Stewart and Obama. Stewart asked Obama: "Sir, we are concerned that ultimately at the end of the day, if you are fortunate enough to get the Democratic nomination, fortunate to become President of the United States, will you pull a bait-and-switch, sir, and enslave the white race? Is that your plan? And, if it is your plan, be honest. Tell us now."
