J.K. Rowling sometimes doesn't practice what she preaches. Her feminism is often one of them (she's not Lena Dunham levels, but sometimes she raises my eyebrows). Personally the thing she really does not do justice too is her acceptance of body types. She claims to not be fatphobic but my God her depiction of the Dursleys rely a lot on their either fat or bony appearance.

I felt so crappy mentioning that, but my own deep-seated grump about female characters left over from childhood and how I'd expect a female writer to have some of the same grump.

I'd heard about her various problematic aspects, including the racial diversity (the absurd naming of "Cho Chang", claiming after the fact that there were Jewish kids at the school but not writing them and, uh, the Gringotts goblins) and I... took it in stride?

Ugh, Lena Dunham. Look up "fauxminist" in the dictionary and there's her picture (along with Tina Fey at this point, I think). FAUMINIST! For When Your Feminism Doesn't Exist (tm).

ADDENDUM: Thanks for the linkage about Pottermore! I can now explore with impunity!
I will say I got a bit spoilerized when I double-checked a name at the Harry Potter wikia and, uh, found out Ginny Weasley's future. Wow.
